Coding agent

An AI agent built for software work: it reads a code project, edits files, runs commands and tests, and attempts to fix what fails.

See also

  • Agent harness

The software around a model that turns it into an agent: it runs the model step after step and hands it its tools and context.

  • Sandbox

An isolated environment in which an agent can run code or use tools with limited access to files, networks and other systems, as far as its configuration allows.

  • Technical debt

The extra work a codebase carries when code ships quicker or rougher than it should: until the code is reworked, every later change costs more, like interest on an unpaid loan.
