v1.5.1

No trial: the free tier is the evaluation path

  • ChangedTrials are removed entirely. The free tier is the evaluation path, with no clock and no card, so a trial was a second answer to a question that already had one. Paid subscriptions bill immediately. Legacy trialing subscriptions continue to qualify until they convert or lapse.
v1.5.0

Tiers collapse to Free / Pro $99 / Ultra $199

  • BreakingBuild, Scale, and Enterprise are retired. The tier set is now Free ($0/mo, 1,000 requests a month at 60 req/min, API key required, no card), Pro ($99/mo or $990/yr, 300 req/min, 500,000 requests a month, 5 seats), and Ultra ($199/mo or $1,999/yr, 1,500 req/min, 5,000,000 requests a month, 15 seats). Existing Build subscriptions resolve as Pro; Scale and Enterprise resolve as Ultra.
  • ChangedPro includes the MCP server, the /lineage provenance endpoint, and restricted API keys. Ultra adds the company leveling catalog and the annual reports.
  • ChangedThe IntelligenceTier type is now 'free' | 'pro' | 'ultra'. Legacy stored tier values continue to resolve on read (build to pro; scale and enterprise to ultra), so no key stops working.
v1.4.0

Free tier replaced by Build tier ($99/mo)

  • BreakingThe Intelligence Free tier is replaced by the Build tier at $99/mo or $990/yr. Build is the new entry tier with 60 requests per minute (up from 30) and access to the AI Role Taxonomy engine. The change reflects the full cost of running compensation infrastructure honestly; we'd rather charge an honest price than pretend the data was free to produce.
  • ChangedPro tier price increased from $199/mo to $299/mo ($2,990/yr). Pro now includes Skill Premiums, Half-Life, Comp by Stage, Hiring Velocity, the MCP server, and the lineage endpoint.
  • ChangedScale tier price increased from $999/mo to $1,999/mo ($19,990/yr). Scale adds Company Signals and webhooks at 1,500 req/min.
  • ChangedBackend tier ID renamed from 'free' to 'build' in every Intelligence type union, OpenAPI enum, SDK type, MCP error message, and rate-limit lookup. The IntelligenceTier type is now 'build' | 'pro' | 'scale' | 'enterprise'. The Jobs free tier is a separate product and is unchanged.
  • Added/api/v1/intelligence/salaries/demo remains anonymous-public for evaluation. The Build tier is required for production use of every other endpoint.
v1.3.0

Authentication required on all tiers

  • BreakingAll production endpoints now require a Bearer token, including the free tier. Create a free account at /intelligence/signup to get an API key. The /api/v1/intelligence/salaries/demo endpoint remains public with no authentication for quick evaluation.
  • ChangedFree tier messaging updated from 'no authentication required' to 'free account required, 30 requests per minute.' No changes to rate limits or data access on the free tier.
v1.2.0

Cite-ready responses and rate-limit headers

  • AddedEvery /api/v1/intelligence/salaries/calculate and /api/v1/intelligence/salaries/projections response now includes a citation field ready to quote verbatim and an assumptions array explaining the methodology. Built for LLMs, agents, and reproducible research.
  • AddedX-RateLimit-Remaining, X-RateLimit-Limit, and X-RateLimit-Tier headers on every response. Use them for adaptive backoff in your client.
  • Changed/api/v1/intelligence/salaries/history free tier now returns a 1-year preview (Q3 2025 through Q2 2026) instead of a 403 response. Enough to audit methodology and annual deltas without an account.
  • AddedDedicated MCP manifest at /mcp-intelligence.json and standalone OpenAPI 3.1 spec at /openapi-intelligence.yaml. Drop directly into any LLM or agent.
v1.1.0

Personalized estimates and forward projections

  • AddedNew /api/v1/intelligence/salaries/calculate endpoint. Personalized salary estimate adjusted for role, city cost of living, and experience level (entry, mid, senior, staff). Returns base, total compensation, and comparison to national median.
  • AddedNew /api/v1/intelligence/salaries/projections endpoint. Year-by-year salary forecasts through 2030 based on historical growth trends. AI roles compound at 6 to 10 percent annually; standard tech tracks BLS OES.
  • AddedSchema.org Dataset markup on the public data platform pages. Indexed by Google Dataset Search and Perplexity answer engine.
v1.0.0

v1 stable launch

  • Added/api/v1/intelligence/salaries endpoint. Current median, 25th/75th percentiles, experience bands, total compensation breakdowns, and year-over-year growth for any role optionally adjusted for a specific city.
  • Added/api/v1/intelligence/salaries/history endpoint. Annual salary snapshots since Q3 2025 for a role, optionally cost-of-living adjusted.
  • Added/api/v1/intelligence/salaries/roles directory endpoint. Lists all 3,445 AI and tech roles with slugs and national medians.
  • Added/api/v1/intelligence/salaries/cities directory endpoint. Lists all 81 U.S. cities with cost-of-living multipliers from BEA Regional Price Parities.
  • Added/api/v1/intelligence/salaries/search endpoint. Full-text search across roles and cities. Resolves natural-language references to valid slugs.
  • AddedFree tier launched: 30 requests per minute. Originally no authentication required (auth was added in v1.3.0). The free tier is the distribution strategy, not a limited trial.
  • AddedCORS enabled for all origins. 90-day edge cache with stale-while-revalidate. Call the API directly from browser code without a backend proxy.
  • AddedEvery response includes an attribution object with source name, methodology URL, and the ISO date of the quarter the data represents. The citation travels with the data.
