Discard

A file an agent changed that its run may not keep, erased before the commit rather than shipped: anything outside its lane, and a lane file the run cannot keep yet, such as a proposed lesson before the ladder allows one. Discards are counted separately from failures, because a run that landed with some of its edits refused is a different fact from a run that never landed.
